Z Theory – Book Summary

Z Theory, written in 1981 by William Ouchi, to which he gave the subtitle “The Japanese Challenge”, had a strong influence in the western charm for the Japanese management style along the decade of the 80s and the following years. In his book, Ouchi took as starting point Douglas McGregor’s X and Y Theories and gathered inspiration from “employment for life” Japanese practices and their business values, such as salary based on the antiquity and the company’s syndicalism (trade union).
