Target Concept

On management context, target concept is usually associated to the one of organizational aim, and should be defined, mandatorily, either in numeric terms (quantified), either in terms of timing (have a deadline). Based on the company’s mission and vision and having in account the internal and external conditions, the organization establishes its future organizational aims, this being the results to be reached. After being quantified and defined in time, these organizational aims begin to be designated as targets. For example, if the aim is to raise sales, the target can be the sales increase in 20% in the year of 2010.

Note: in some literatures, the organizational aim itself already appears as quantified and timed, confusing himself, in this case, with the target.
