Life and work of Lyndall F. Urwick

Lyndall F. Urwick was one of the significant members of the Classic School of Management which beyond having searched to disclose other authors’ works, also performed a new deployment of the administration activities in: investigation, prediction, planning, organization, coordination, command and control. Urwick was also responsible for the introduction of the linear organization concept (formed by the line members who follow the beginning of the climbing chain) and of staff organization (formed by the staff members or consultants who offer advices, services and recommendations to the line members but don’t have command authority).
