Tom Peters’ Leadership Instruments Concept

Leadership Instruments Model developed by Tom Peters has as main goal to achieve the support of all organization members whenever new programs or strategies are introduced by the top managers’ example. In fact, an inflection on performance strategy, definition of new priorities or the implementation of a new program or directive that implies changes in the organization’s philosophy, encounters, generally, with great acceptance resistances and difficulties. According to Tom Peters, the key for the resolution of this situation is the example given by the managers. This new approach can therefore be considered as a new leadership model, relying on easily controlled variables, unlike what happens with the models based on personality traces an in organizational culture elements.

Tom Peters’ Leadership Instruments Model’s base principle is, therefore, that the organization members will not change priorities while the top managers, or the managers responsible for change, don’t do it.
