Profit Centre Concept

A profit centre is an individualized unit (a commercial store, a factory, a delegation, etc.) or a company’s department that is responsible for its own costs, gains and, consequently, for its own profits. Generally, the profit centre managers have a lot of freedom in decision taking, managing their sectors as if they were managing an independent company, being subjected only to some limitations of strategic nature such as price, marketing strategy or positioning of a product.
